The #CultureFirst series is a chance to showcase the team here at Culture Amp. We asked everyone a few questions which will give you an opportunity to get to know each of us a bit better.
Natalie Hoch - People Geek (New York City)
Natalie enjoys helping people achieve their goals and become better people geeks. In her down time, Natalie loves chasing after her son, playing fetch with her dog and attempting to cook gourmet meals from scratch.
Culture Amp: What can you do as a CAmper that you haven’t been able to do elsewhere?
Natalie Hoch: Being in Sales, I talk to amazing people and companies day in and day out. I am inspired by their visions as much as I am inspired by ours. I feed off of the energy that clients bring on our calls and it re-affirms why we do what we do.
CA: Best day you’ve ever had at work, here or anywhere else?
NH: I co-created, co-developed and co-led a leadership training program while I was at Hay Group. The creation of that training is something I am super proud of. As well, I will always remember the look on the trainees faces as they dug into the material and learned more about themselves that day. It's an amazing feeling to think you've made an impact on someone else's life and career.
CA: What do you geek out about outside of work?
NH: I'm a foodie that loves trying new restaurants, or experimenting with new recipes at home. I am also obsessed with dogs. I want 10 or 20 of them.
CA: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
NH: This is tough because I want about 10 of them. Given the frustrations that can come with technology and geographical differences, I would say teleportation. If I could be in Melbourne for the All-Hands and still make it home to have dinner with my family, that would be priceless.
CA: What is something about you not many people know?
NH: I am not a huge fan of heights, but went skydiving once when I was 21. It was exhilarating and terrifying all at once. I don't think I'll do it again.
CA: What’s on your playlist this week?
NH: I enjoy a mixture of different types of music, but currently: Adele (I desperately wanted tickets to her US tour, but was not lucky enough), The Weeknd, Ellie Goulding, and Zedd. And if I'm in my car, it's Thomas the Train songs or nursery rhymes for my son.
CA: Where would you go on an all expense paid trip tomorrow?
NH: Asia: I'd start in Japan, then go on to Thailand, Singapore, China and then head south to Australia and New Zealand. I'd end in Fiji where I would sleep in a hut over the water. #bucketlist
CA: What was the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
NH: It's not exactly advice as much as it was actions. My Dad always encouraged me to go after my dreams, and he showed me how to through his work ethic. He taught me to always work hard, persevere and never give up until you achieve your goals.
CA: What does Culture First mean to you?
NH: I take this very literally. Truly thinking Culture First means that decisions are made by thinking about our culture and how that decision will help our culture evolve. For instance, I've always thought about how new hires will fit into an organization. With CA, I now think about how a new hire will amplify our culture.
