Filip Reese - Product Manager - Melbourne
Filip comes to us with a MBA from Melbourne Business School and a background in Product Management honed in the alleys of San Francisco and laneways of Melbourne. When he's not coming up with ways to make Culture Amp even more awesome, you might find him searching for waves somewhere on a remote stretch of Victorian coast line.
Culture Amp: What can you do as a CAmper that you haven’t been able to do elsewhere?
Filip Reese: Work with an amazing bunch of a people on something that has the potential to transform the working world as we know it.
CA: Best day you’ve ever had at work (here or anywhere else)?
FR: Going to a Geekup on my second day as an intern here was pretty great.
CA: What do you geek out about outside from work?
CA: What did you want to be when you grew up?
FR: Professional skateboarder.
CA: What is something about you not many people know?
FR: I love reading. Everything from scifi to American gothic to contemporary lit (David Foster Wallace fanboy here).
CA: What’s on your playlist this week?
FR: James Blake.
CA: Where would you go on an all expense paid trip tomorrow?
FR: Tavarua, Fiji.
CA: What does culture first mean to you?
FR: Working in an environment with values that make you comfortable to be yourself.
CA: Do you have any startup / culture idols?
FR: Ira Glass (don't know if he counts as a startup person), if not, Alex Blumberg because I'm super obsessed with Gimlet podcasts right now.
CA: What was the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
FR: You'll always regret what you didn't do rather than what you did.
CA: If you could have one super power, what would it be?
FR: Under water breathing.
CA: You pick a magazine up to read – what is it?
FR: People still read magazines?
CA: What’s up next in your Netflix queue?
FR: Anything comic book related.
CA: If you could be a lead character in a movie, who would it be?
FR: James Bond.
CA: How have you turned a setback into an opportunity?
FR: I missed a flight to Melbourne and found myself stranded in LA for 24 hours, so I used the opportunity to catch up with a friend and visit the Ghetty.
CA: What was the first and last concert you attended?
FR: First was Outkast, last was Jungle.
CA: If you won the lottery what would you do first?
FR: Donate a large chunk of money to my friend's non-profit that builds community skateparks in the developing world. http://makelifeskatelife.org
CA: Would you take a one way trip to Mars and why/not?
FR: Absolutely. I couldn't miss out on the opportunity to make history.
