The #CultureFirst series is a chance to showcase the team here at Culture Amp. We asked everyone a few questions which will give you an opportunity to get to know each of us a bit better.
Dave Lim - Product Designer
Dave is a multidisciplinary designer and front-end developer with a background in user experience and crochet. He only wears blue t-shirts and doesn't mind being photographed with My Little Ponies.
Culture Amp: What can you do as a CAmper that you haven’t been able to do elsewhere?
Dave Lim: Have such a big influence over the shape of a product that can have such positive impacts for people in their work.
CA: Best day you’ve ever had at work (here or anywhere else)?
DL: It’s hard to compare, but I think ultimately it comes down to the people I’ve worked with. Any time I’m working with great people who are experts at what they do, is a good day.
CA: What do you geek out about outside from work?
DL: All sorts of things – I go through phases, and there never seems to be enough time. A few weeks ago I was totally absorbed in calligraphy and hand lettering; this week I’m trying to learn Space Oddity on the ukulele. Though now that you mention it, we’re coming back around to crochet season…
CA: What did you want to be when you grew up?
CA: What is something about you not many people know?
DL: I’m originally from Adelaide. Ssh. Don’t tell anyone.
CA: What’s on your playlist this week?
DL: "Dummy," by Portishead.
CA: Where would you go on an all expense paid trip tomorrow?
DL: Japan. There’s something about the culture and its expression in design that I really connect with.
CA: What was the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
DL: It’s a cliche, but “do what you love, and the money will sort itself out.” I learned it late, but I think it’s so important – you spend such a large proportion of your life working.
CA: What does culture first mean to you?
DL: It means putting people first in everything you do.
