#CultureFirst: Brendan Zabarauskas

The #CultureFirst series is a chance to showcase the team here at Culture Amp. We asked everyone a few questions which will give you an opportunity to get to know each of us a bit better.

Brendan Zabarauskas - Engineering - Melbourne

Culture Amp: What can you do as a CAmper that you haven’t been able to do elsewhere?
Brendan Zabarauskas:
Having the chance work at an Australian company that is making a difference to people's lives all around the world. It's also inspiring to be around the founders, who are incredibly humble and easy to approach.

CA: Best day you’ve ever had at work (here or anywhere else)?
When I managed to improve the performance of one of our scripts by around 90%!

CA: What do you geek out about outside from work?
I have a number of game development libraries for the Rust programming language and am experimenting with procedural world generation. I'm also really passionate about exploring the intersection of art, computer science and mathematics.

CA: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A toss-up between a physicist, architect, animator or cartographer.

CA: What is something about you not many people know?
: My favorite Unicode character is the Cyrillic Multiocular O

CA: What’s on your playlist this week?
: The Machinarium Soundtrack by Tomáš Dvořák

CA: What does culture first mean to you?
Creating a friendly environment at work, where people have the freedom to be vulnerable and take risks while still feeling supported.

CA: If you won the lottery what would you do first?
I'd take a sabbatical to work on my generative art and open source projects full time. :)

CA: Would you take a one way trip to Mars and why/not?
: Not at all! I'd miss the trees and the birds ...and great Melbourne coffee!
